Crossing the Barrage de Sarrans on the 45th Anniversary rally

Since your last visit BOO has completed the 45th Anniversary Tour de France 2006 – a 2,500-mile rally taking in the Dordogne and Auvergne, before heading north to Geneva to celebrate the launch of the E-type in that city in March 1961. Turn to the following pages for more pictures...

Owning an E-type is all about driving and BOO certainly gets driven. In the past few years, it has competed in the HERO Irish Tour, made several trips to Germany and taken part in countless UK rallies and events, including Le Mans. Most recently, it has completed the 45th Anniversary E-type Tour de France (see page 2). It also makes regular appearances in the Our Classics section of Classic & Sports Car magazine. BOO is a 1965 Series 1 4.2 roadster and has been in the same ownership for 26 years. Originally Carmen Red with black upholstery, it was painted Old English White in the 1970s and reupholstered in red. The original 'C' plate was also changed to the current registration at the same time. This website brings you a selection of pictures celebrating not only the exploits of a much-loved car, but all E-type Jaguars – the most beautiful cars ever built. I hope you enjoy it! Gaynor Cauter

Following John Burton's early 3.8 on the way to Geneva

The 45th Anniversary E-type Tour de France was a two-week rally round some of the best driving areas of France. Twenty-one cars took part, representing every model variant of E-type ever built. The tour was organised by the International E-type Register of the Jaguar Drivers' Club and was sponsored by Moët et Chandon. Apart from a few electrical problems and one failing clutch on register chairman John Burton's 3.8 roadster, there were no serious breakdowns and all the cars made it home – some, as in BOO's case, via Le Mans for the Classic.
